Ordination to the Priesthood: December 17, 1971, by James Cardinal Hickey in St. Peter's Basilica, Rome. Named prelate of honor in 1985 and in 1993 named prothonotary apostolic.
Ordination to the Episcopacy: Ordination to Episcopacy April 19, 2005, as Coadjutor Bishop of Burlington, by Archbishop Montalvo Higuera, with Archbishop Seán Patrick O'Malley, OFM Cap, and Bishop Kenneth A. Angell serving as co-consecrators; installed as ninth Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington November 9, 2005.
Named Ninth Bishop of Rochester, N.Y., on November 5, 2013; installed January 3, 2014.
