Education: Proctor High School, Proctor, Vermont; University of Vermont, Burlington, Vermont; Grand Seminary of Montreal, Montreal, Canada.
Ordination to the Priesthood: Ordained, May 26, 1923, Burlington, by Bishop Rice, of Burlington. Engaged in pastoral work in the Diocese of Burlington, 1923-1927, 1932-1943, 1946-1954; principal of the Cathedral High School, Burlington, 1927-1932; chaplain in the United States Army, 1943-1946. Pro-synodal judge and diocesan director of the Holy Name Society.
Ordination to the Episcopacy: Elevated to the episcopacy by Pope Pius XII to the titular See of Citium, July 8, 1945 and appointed auxiliary Bishop of Burlington. Consecrated, October 28, 1954, Burlington, by Bishop Ryan, of Burlington, assisted by Bishop Brady, of Manchester, and Bishop Flanagan, of Norwich. Installed Bishop of Burlington February 26, 1957. Attended Vatican II, all sessions. Served National Board, American Cancer Society for 10 years. Trustee of the University of Vermont. Resigned as Bishop of Burlington after 15 years at age 75.
Death: Died at 93, September 2, 1990. Buried Resurrection Park, South Burlington, Vermont. Years of episcopacy: 14 years and 10 months.
