Birthdate: January 15, 1893, Waterbury, Connecticut, the son of John and Catherine Caffrey Brady.
Education: St. Thomas Seminary, Hartford, Connecticut; the American College, Louvain, Belgium; St. Bernard’s Seminary, Rochester, New York.
Ordanation to the Priesthood: June 10, 1916, Hartford, by Bishop Nilan, of Hartford. Chaplain in the United States Army, 1916-1918. Engaged in pastoral work in the Diocese of Hartford, 1919-1922, 1932-1938. A member of the faculty of St. Thomas Seminary, Hartford, 1922-1932.
Ordination to the Episcopacy: Elevated to the episcopacy by Pope Pius XI to the See of Burlington, July 30, 1938. Consecrated, October 26, 1938, Burlington, by Archbishop Cicognani, apostolic delegate to the United States, assisted by Bishop McAuliffe, of Hartford, and Bishop McCarthy, of Portland. Transferred to the See of Manchester, November 11, 1944.
Death: Died at age 66 on September 20, 1959. Years of episcopacy: 6 years and 16 days.
