Information about NFP

This method allows a couple to recognize day by day their fertility phase– when a woman is fertile and when she is infertile.

Women identify their phases by observing changes in:

  • Their basal body temperature
  • Their cervical mucus
  • Their cervix

The Sympto-Thermal Method can be used

  • During reproductive years for women
  • With regular or irregular cycles
  • With cycles without ovulation
  • After childbirth: when breast or bottle feeding
  • When approaching menopause
  • When ending birth control use
  • For pinpointing times for maximum fertility in cases of low fertility

In “16 years of using NFP, we would be hard pressed to find a greater gift to our married love.  Perhaps this is the reason it’s often referred to by couples practicing NFP as the ’Best kept secret of the Catholic Church.”                                                           -Al Covey
