Life Is Precious Trip

January 18-21, 2018

The Diocese will sponsor a bus trip for Vermonters to show their support for life at this annual event.  Buses will leave January 18 (evening) and return January 21. This will be an extended itinerary for youth groups and their chaperones to include visits to several shrines in the DC area and overnight stays. 


January 18th
  • Transportation:  55 passenger bus
  • 6:00 p.m. Northeast Kingdom group arrives at Lowell for departure – Missisquoi Lanes (Lowell, Vermont)
  • 7:30 p.m. Depart Rice Memorial High School
  • 10:15 p.m. Depart Hannaford parking lot, 896 Putney Road, Brattleboro, Vermont
January 19th
  • 8:00 a.m. Arrive George Mason University for Life is Very Good Rally
  • Attend March for Life in Washington D.C.
  • Get on buses at approximately 4/4:30 p.m. and head to Bishop Ireton – expectation is arrival at Ireton at roughly 4:30 – 5 p.m.
  • Get settled at Ireton – Location: 201 Cambridge Road, Alexandria, VA
  • Leave Ireton for Good Shepherd Catholic Church at 5:45 p.m.
  • Evening event and dinner at Good Shepherd till 9:00 p.m.
  • Return to Ireton at roughly 9:45 p.m.
  • Overnight at Bishop Ireton
  • Participants will be responsible for breakfast and lunch on this day 
January 20th
  • Breakfast at Ireton – likely bagels, continental breakfast, etc.
  • Depart Ireton at 9:15 a.m. – visit elderly at Sunrise Assisted Living off Duke Street
  • Drive to Shrine of John Paul II and National Basilica – tour National Shrine of JP II and National Basilica
  • Attend 5:15 Vigil Mass
  • Leave Shrine – swing by Lincoln Memorial (time and weather permitting)
  • Arrive at Bishop Ireton at roughly 8:00 p.m.
  • Evening program with Bob Glennon (Ireton alum class of ’87) who works at Miriam’s Kitchen in Washington, D.C.
  • We will show The Human Experience that evening on the big screen in the auditorium
  • Participants will be responsible for lunch and dinner this day
January 21st
  • Depart Bishop Ireton at 6:00 a.m.
  • Arrive in Brattleboro – 2 p.m.
  • Arrive in Burlington – 4:30 p.m.
  • Arrive in Lowell – 6:00 p.m. (times subject to change)
  • Participants responsible for all food on this day
Bring food to share on the bus ride!

Items to Bring:
  • Necessary medications
  • Toiletries
  • Towel
  • Bedroll and sleeping bag, and pillow
  • $50 spending money
  • Bible
  • Warm jacket and hat, gloves
  • Good walking shoes/boots (we will do a lot of walking on Saturday)
  • Important: We are making a donation of winter hats, gloves, scarves to a homeless organization in Washington D.C. Please bring these with you.
